Great Barrington — A 42-year old West Stockbridge woman complained of head and neck pain after a freight train struck the rear passenger side of her car Wednesday (December 10), according to the Great Barrington Police Department.
The accident happened at approximately 4:20 p.m., at the height of a snowstorm and darkening skies, when the woman was backing out of a driveway at her workplace at 220 North Plain Road. According to the preliminary report, she was waiting to pull out of the driveway onto Route 41 when she was struck by a Housatonic Railroad Company freight train heading south at 25 miles per hour.
