Farley-Bouvier, Hinds to chair state budget hearing

Pittsfield — Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier, D-Pittsfield, and Sen. Adam G. Hinds, D-Pittsfield, have announced that they will co-chair one of eight statewide state budget hearings for fiscal year 2019 on behalf of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means Monday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Connector Room at Berkshire Community College.

The hearings focus on specific areas of state spending and help the House of Representatives and Senate prepare their spending recommendations. The Pittsfield hearing is one of two focused on agencies under the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

While the hearing is open to the public, testimony is limited to senior Baker administration officials by invitation of the committee only. It is expected that commissioners and directors of the departments of Children and Families, Youth Services, Transitional Assistance as well as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Commission for the Blind, and Office for Refugees and Immigrants will testify.
