News Brief: Early voting to start this weekend in GB

Great Barrington — How and when will you vote in the 2020 presidential election? Do you still need to register to vote?

Vote by mail applications and absentee voter applications must be returned to the town clerk’s office no later than Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. To apply for a ballot:

  • Download an early vote by mail application, or contact the town clerk’s office at (413) 528-1619 x3 to request that an application be sent to you.
  • If you request your application by mail, fax (413) 528-1026 or email (jmessina@townofgb.org), you must do so no later than Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m.
  • You may also apply to vote by mail in person at the town clerk’s office until Monday, Nov. 2, at noon.
  • Completed election ballots must be returned by to the town Clerk’s office by Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m., or from 4 to 8 p.m. in the tow clerk’s dropbox in front of Town Hall.

In-person early voting will take place at the town clerk’s office from Saturday, Oct. 17, through Sunday, Oct. 28. Hours are as follows:

  • Saturday, Oct. 17, 9-11 a.m.;
  • Sunday, Oct. 18, 10-noon;
  • Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.;
  • Saturday, Oct. 24, 2-4 p.m.;
  • Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.-noon; and
  • Monday, Oct. 25, through Friday, Oct. 30, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Election Day voting is Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Great Barrington Fire Department (Precincts A, C and D) and the Housatonic Community Center (Precinct B).

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election is Saturday, Oct. 24. Registration can take place online or in person at the town clerk’s office no later than Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7-8 p.m.
