New restaurant, Juju’s, to open adjacent to Triplex Cinema

“I could not be more excited to be bringing accessible, awesome, and tasty food to Great Barrington," said Berkshire County restauranteur Josh Irwin. "As a new resident of Great Barrington (by way of New Marlborough), I am thrilled to be building a relationship with the Triplex and want to help them in every way I can."

Great Barrington — On Tuesday, January 16, it was announced through a press release that Berkshire County restaurateur Josh Irwin will be opening Juju’s in a space adjacent to the Triplex Cinema.

Irwin and his wife Emily were co-owners of  Cantina 229 in New Marlborough, which recently closed after many years.

Irwin is also a partner in MoonCloud Restaurant, located around the corner from the Triplex on Railroad Street, and has also embarking on several other new local food-related ventures.

According to the press release, plans call for a 550-square-foot space, accessible from both the interior of the Triplex and the exterior on the Triplex patio via a takeout window. Juju’s will open in May to kick off the summer season.  The Triplex patio will be open for outdoor eating in the warmer weather.

“We are thrilled to have Josh in the building,” said Triplex Treasurer Sam Handel. “His experience and history of success in the community make him a perfect fit. Juju’s will bring energy and excitement to the Triplex. As I have sometimes cooked for Josh, I could not be happier.”

Josh Irwin stated, “I could not be more excited to be bringing accessible, awesome and tasty food to Great Barrington. As a new resident of Great Barrington (by way of New Marlborough), I am thrilled to be building a relationship with the Triplex and want to help them in every way I can. My life largely revolves around food so Juju’s is a particularly exciting opportunity for me to begin working with the Triplex.”

“One of our goals in reopening the Triplex is to create new and vibrant opportunities in downtown Great Barrington, built around the cinema,” said Triplex Board of Directors President Nicki Wilson. “Led by the talented Josh Irwin, Juju’s will add to the exciting developments happening around the newly reopened cinema.”

Juju’s fast casual food concept will feature a specially created popcorn-sized fried chicken, as well as popcorn-sized fried vegetable treats, two salads packed with vibrant and delicious items, and Irwin’s beloved soft-serve ice cream in cones and cups. Also on the menu will be homemade mint iced tea and lemongrass lemonade. Additional beverages will be available in the adjoining Triplex lobby.
