Dear Berkshire Edge Community,

My name is Tony Scibelli, and I am the new Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Fairview Hospital. I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the members of the South County and Berkshire Health Systems communities.

This summer, I had the pleasure of attending the Fairview gala, where I heard firsthand from members of the community about the role the hospital has played in their lives and as a pillar of the community over the years. It is clear to me that Fairview Hospital and its tight-knit team play a vital role in making South County a better, healthier community. The opportunity to work in a community that strives for excellence and engages deeply with one another is truly exciting for me.

A little information about me: I come to Fairview from Cooley Dickinson Health Care in Northampton, Mass. Before taking on the leadership role at Cooley Dickinson, I spent about a decade in Utica, N.Y., holding various roles in a community hospital system that served both rural areas and a small city. My background is in Human Resources, and I have found success in applying a team-based leadership style to hospital operations and administration. With experience leading rural hospitals, I am well acquainted with both the challenges and opportunities for small facilities like Fairview and even rural health systems like BHS, who truly hold the responsibility of caring for a region on their shoulders.

All of these various roles and experiences have brought me to where I am today, taking on new responsibility as a liaison between South County and the BHS leadership team as I lead the critical access hospital that is so valuable to both parties. I greatly admire Farview Hospital and BHS’s commitment to keeping patients close to home while providing access to the resources of a larger system, and I look forward to continuing and strengthening that connection with the community.

I would like to thank Darlene Rodowicz, Emmett Schuster, Dr. Alec Belman and Doreen Hutchinson for their support as I transition into this new role. I am also grateful to the South County residents who have already made me feel welcomed into our community. I look forward to continued collaboration with BHS leadership, the community, and Fairview Hospital’s team to maintain and strengthen Fairview Hospital’s reputation for delivering five-star care right here in South County.
