Nadine Marjorie Forfa, 86, of Housatonic

Nadine volunteered at Head Start, Community Action and Construct. She also was a bowling coach for youths and adults at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington.

Nadine Marjorie Forfa, 86, of Housatonic died Thursday February 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Nadine was born in Pittsfield on March 21, 1930, daughter of Irving and Sarah “Sally” (Brazee) Mills. She was educated in Lee schools and as a child Nadine attended Lee Congregational Church.

Nadine worked at Monument Mills in Housatonic, volunteered at Head Start, Community Action and Construct. She also was a bowling coach for youths and adults at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington. Nadine enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking and spending with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nadine’s husband Anthony W. Forfa Sr., whom she married on July 12, 1947, predeceased her on August 4, 2010.

Nadine is survived by eight sons, Anthony W. Forfa Jr. and wife Vickie, David Forfa Sr., Stanley Forfa and wife Kathy, John Forfa and wife Ivanka, William Forfa and wife Diana, Thomas Forfa and wife Ann Marie, Nelson Forfa and wife Lisa and Darren Forfa and wife Jennifer; nine daughters, Nancy St. Marie and husband Tim, Joan Darada and husband Homer, Margaret Grimes and husband David, Barbara Forfa, Marie Tighe and husband Bill, Marjorie Lindsay and husband Lucas, Nadine Braken and husband Lawrence, Suzanne Posey and Leigh Forfa; forty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Nadine was predeceased by one sister, Betty and three brothers, Harold, Irving and Walter Mills.

Funeral services for Nadine M. Forfa will be held on Thursday February 16 at 11 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, with Pastor Bruce Teague officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Nadine’s memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

The funeral service for Mary Lou Barnum will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Church on the Hill in Lenox, with Rev. Liz Goodman officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Roche Funeral Home.
