Minnie M. Rood, 85, of Ashley Falls Road passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at her home in Ashley Falls, MA.
A native and lifelong resident, Minnie was born in Ashley Falls on December 2, 1929, the daughter of George D. Wilhelm and Minnie Pierson Wilhelm. She attended local schools and received her high school diploma from Mt. Everett Regional High School when she was in her late 50’s.
Mrs. Rood drove school busses for Massini Bus Co. as well as Hayes Bus Co. Over the 30 plus years she drove many hundreds of students, many of whom still remember her fondly. She was also employed at E.B. Dolby Florist in Great Barrington.
She had a love of animals and gardening.
Minnie is survived by her children, James G. Bennett, David A. Rood and Georgia Blades and their spouses all residing in Ashley Falls, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Caul as well as her former husband, George A. Rood.Â
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Betty LeGeyt. Burial will follow at Corashire Cemetery in Monterey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 11, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Great Barrington.
