Mildred Tatsapaugh Shmulsky, 93, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at her daughter’s home. She was born on April 13, 1928, in Sheffield, Massachusetts, to Horace and Ann Tatsapaugh.
Mildred attended the local Sheffield Center School, where she graduated in 1946. She then worked as a telephone operator. In 1947, she met and married her husband Alexander A. Shmulsky, who had just returned from serving in WWII. Mildred’s wedding dress was made out of the silk from his parachute. They resided in Sheffield and raised six children on Berkshire School Road, where she resided until her death.
Mildred is survived by her bother Horace Randall Tatsapaugh and his wife Ruth of Greensboro, North Carolina; her son Alexander Theodore Shmulsky and wife Lucinda of New Marlboro; her daughter Elle Sable of Princeton, Maine; her daughter Nancy Shmulsky of Sheffield; her son Stephen Shmulsky and wife JoAnn of Sheffield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much and who brought her great joy.
Aside from her husband and parents, Mildred was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Kane Shmulsky in 2008, her son Daniel Shmulsky in 2007, and her grandson Matthew Shmulsky in 2002. Mildred devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her parents until their death.
