Mildred Race Anderson, 91, a former longtime resident of Great Barrington passed away on December 30, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Fairfax, Va.
Born January 13, 1923 in Great Barrington she was the daughter of Herbert and Ethel Sturcken Race. She graduated from the former Searles High School.
Mrs. Anderson worked at the business office of Monument Mills prior to marrying her husband, Carleton, and later assisted with billing at Dolby Florist.
Mildred enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Wyantenuck Golf Club. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her children Carleton K. Anderson, Jr. and his wife Marlene of Phoenix, Ariz., Johanna Zinn and husband Jeffrey of Fairfax, Va., Suzanne Barney and husband Stan of Lunenburg, Mass., and Mark Anderson and wife Dindy of Great Barrington. She also leaves her grandchildren Chaton Anderson, Brendan Zinn, Andrew Zinn and his wife Sarah, Patrick Barney, and Stephanie Barney, and her great grandchildren, James and Catherine Zinn.
She was predeceased by her husband Carleton K. Anderson, Sr.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Janet Whaley Zimmerman, Pastor of Grace Church Episcopal in Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Housatonic.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 7, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Great Barrington.
