Michel Anthony Manoli of Huntington, New York, died October 31, 2024, at his home on Long Island, N.Y. He was 50 years old. Mike was born on December 28, 1973, in Queens, N.Y. He was the beloved son of Anthony and Barbara Manoli. He is and will always be deeply missed.
Mike attended Holy Trinity School in Whitestone, N.Y., and was an altar boy at Holy Trinity R.C. Church. He attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing, N.Y., and went to Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. He spent many wonderful summers with his siblings at Camp Kingsmont in West Stockbridge, Mass., in the beautiful Berkshires.
Mike enjoyed growing up with his family in Malba, N.Y., by the Whitestone Bridge. From a young age, Mike had a proficiency for tinkering and figuring how things worked. One of his greatest lifelong talents, of which he had many, was setting up and maintaining aquariums. They were beautiful and brought him much joy. Another hobby he loved was building, racing, and modifying radio-controlled cars. He had worked in finance on Wall Street. He was a locksmith and could take on nearly any repair, install, or design of, well, just about anything. He truly was an ace of trades.
Mike cared very much for animals. He had a menagerie of pets growing up. Over the years, he had snakes, bearded dragons, geckos, dogs, cats, fish, gerbils, hamsters, and iguanas, one of which, Iggy, grew to be very large. His room was affectionately referred to as “The Zoo.” He had two rescue Weimaraner dogs over the years, first Quincy and more recently Rummy, who passed away in November 2022. They loved each other dearly and were inseparable.
Mike had a big presence and a bright smile. You always knew when he was in the room. He was full of life and easily amused his friends and family. Mike had a passion for music. It was always on, usually at high volume with Mike singing or whistling along.
Aside from his parents, Anthony and Barbara Manoli, Mikey is survived by his three siblings, Marc (Carol), Nicole “Coco,” and Matthew; his niece Amelia; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and so many friends near and far, all of whom are deeply saddened by his passing.
