Mary M. Lucey, 100, of Great Barrington, retired secretary at Great Barrington Savings Bank

Mary was overjoyed to attend her 100th birthday party with her loving family and friends. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Mary M. Lucey, 100, of Great Barrington, passed away on Saturday July 30, 2016 in her beloved home with her two daughters by her side. Mary was able to remain in her home with the assistance of many loving caregivers and her daughter Ann. Mary was born on November 2, 1915 in Housatonic, daughter of Richard and Annie Sweeney Tully. She graduated from the former Searles High School in 1933 and from the former Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield. She worked at the Great Barrington Savings Bank (now Berkshire Bank) as a secretary retiring in 1987. Mary was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church and belonged to the former Mount Everett Circle of Daughters of Isabella and the Thursday Morning Club. Mary married her husband, John T. Lucey on August 1, 1942. He predeceased her on September 1, 1987.

Mary loved vacationing at Lake George and especially Cape Cod. Last November, Mary was overjoyed to attend her 100th birthday party with her loving family and friends. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was the most patient, kind, and generous mother. We love you Mom!

Mary is survived by her daughters, Ann K. Cohen and husband Howard of Pittsfield and Jane E. King and husband Keith of North Attleboro and was the “Proud Nana” of six granddaughters, Jill (Keith), Melissa, Kimberlee, Laura (Patrick), Michelle (fiancé Barry), Alyssa and three great grandsons, Colton, Ryan and Liam. Mary is also survived by one sister, Ruth Wilcoxson and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son, Paul John who died in 1948, a daughter Elaine Mary, two sisters, Ann Walsh and Kathleen Congdon and two brothers, Richard and John Tully. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the loving caregivers who cared for Mary over the past three years: Tsitsino, Jackie, Sandy, Flora, Joyce, Bonnie, Ashley, Eloisa and Leanna. In addition, the family is most grateful to the amazing staff of Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts, especially Carmen, Terri, Eleanor, Rebecca and Dr. Kittler, for their kindness and compassion towards Mary.

Funeral services for Mary M. Lucey will be held on Thursday August 4th at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church with Reverend William P. Murphy, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday August 3rd from 4 – 7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Mary’s memory may be made to the St. Peter’s Restoration Fund in care of the funeral home. Cheryl A. Petell, 70, of Dalton

Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Agnes Church, officiated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery.

Lynn B. Herzig, 75, of Pittsfield

A memorial service for Lynn will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m., at the Christian Assembly in Pittsfield. There will be no calling hours, and burial will be private.

Marie Weatherhead, 90, of Lenox

A memorial service is planned at Roche Funeral Home in Lenox on Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Mazzeo's Ristorante in Pittsfield.
