Mary R. DelGrande, 101, of Sheffield died peacefully Monday, July 24, at Geer Nursing and Rehab Center in Canaan, Connecticut.
Mary was born in Lee on Sept. 26, 1915, the daughter of Andrea and Eugenia (Scapin) Bonafin. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved spending time with her family. Mary’s husband, Jules DelGrande, predeceased her on Jan. 31, 1955. Mary is survived by one daughter: Ann Green of Sheffield; niece Patricia Dupont of Lee; three grandchildren: Kevin Green, Mark Green and Suzanne Curtiss; and five great grandchildren: Rebecca, Olivia, Jacob, Mallory and Maryjane. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by daughter Jane Bouvier, son Allen DelGrande, sister Angelina Cora and brother Eugene Bonafin.
Funeral services for Mary R. DelGrande will be held on Saturday, July 29, at 11 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield with Rev. Bruce Teage and Joe Kurnath concelebrating. Burial will follow in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Mary’s memory may be made to the Our Lady of the Valley Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
