Mary Anne Kirby, 85, of Lenox, passed away peacefully Friday evening at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center with her sister Carol at her side. Born in Pittsfield on December 20, 1939, the daughter of the late William E. and Mary A. Wechter Kirby, she was a lifelong resident of Lenox and a 1957 graduate of Lenox High School.

Mary Anne was operations officer at First Agricultural Bank, later TD Bank, for 43 years, retiring in 2004. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church, where she faithfully attended daily Mass through the years and loved to volunteer to help at church functions. Following the completion of St. Ann’s Family Parish Center, Mary Anne and her sister formed the Circle of Friends, a group of caring volunteers from St. Ann and St. Vincent de Paul parishes who have and continue to offer their assistance to grieving families when they request use of the family center for funeral receptions.
Mary Anne enjoyed vacations with her sister, playing golf, and taking care of their flower gardens. In 1999, she and Carol purchased a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, which she loved driving on their many excursions and going to tag sales. She will always be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and devotion to her community.
Mary Anne is survived by her sister Carol M. Kirby of Lenox and many Kirby and Wechter cousins.
The funeral will be Friday morning, at 11 a.m., at St. Ann’s Church, with the Rev. Monsignor John J. Bonzagni, Pastor, and Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow, con-celebrating the Liturgy. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the Roche Funeral Home will be Thursday evening, from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Anne’s memory may be made to St. Ann’s Church or to St. Ann’s Family Parish Center in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street Lenox, MA 01240. Carol Kirby would like to thank the entire staff at Kimball Farms LEP unit and Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center for all the loving care and support Mary Anne was given through the years.
