She married Frederick K. Bressette Aug. 20, 1960, in Medford, and together they raised their two children at the family home in North Adams. They retired to York Beach, Maine, where they enjoyed many happy memories with family and friends before moving to Sagamore Beach in 1998. Mr. Bressette died March 15, 2006. Mrs. Bressette returned to Massachusetts to make her home with her daughter in Middlefield several months ago. She led a life of faith and had been a communicant of Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich.

Mrs. Bressette was a devoted mother and grandmother. A prolific lifelong artist, she shared the joy of art with multiple generations of friends. Always a champion of the underdog, she inspired others with an unwavering commitment to show empathy and kindness in all situations and to always do the right thing, even when it was hard. Her patient kindness, infectious sense of humor and fierce competitiveness will now live on through her grandchildren’s inherited personality traits. She lived by the motto that there is always time for dessert.

Survivors include daughter Melissa Bressette and husband Richard LeClair of Middlefield; son Christopher Bressette and wife Noreen of Sandwich; grandchildren Georgia Bressette of Sandwich and Bridget and Benjamin Bressette, both of Boston; sister Ann Hunt of Fairhaven; and brother Walter Lundblad of Virginia. She was predeceased by seven other siblings: Helen Zona, Rita Hunt, Charles Lundblad, Edgar Lundblad, Robert Lundblad, Mary Conway and John Lundblad. She also leaves her cherished friends Judith Kozak-Shaw and Corinne Lepotakis Keegan.

In keeping with precautions recommended by state and federal officials regarding the coronavirus and out of concern for the health and safety of all who would attend, a funeral Mass, followed by a reception, will be celebrated for Mrs. Martha J. Bressette in Corpus Christie Parish, Sandwich, at a date and time to be announced. A private burial will take place later this week in the family lot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. To share memories and stories, visit
