Marjorie Cummings, 88, of Lee

She was employed as an operator for New England Telephone in its Lenox exchange for several years, worked at the former Windsor Mountain School in Lenox as a switchboard operator and bookkeeper, and was a cook and St. Mary’s Convent in Lee prior to her retirement.

Marjorie T. Cummings, 88, of Water Street, died Tuesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

A resident of Lenox for much of her life, she was born July 31, 1928, the daughter of Daniel E. and Minnie E. Tatro Fallon. She attended Lenox schools and was a 1945 graduate of Lenox High School. She was employed as an operator for New England Telephone in its Lenox exchange for several years, worked at the former Windsor Mountain School in Lenox as a switchboard operator and bookkeeper, and was a cook and St. Mary’s Convent in Lee prior to her retirement.

Mrs. Cummings and her husband, Edward T. “Boo” Cummings, were married in St. Ann’s Church in Lenox June 20, 1951. Mr. Cummings died Jan. 20, 1987. A resident of Lee since 1987, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed visiting the chapel at St. Mary’s Oratory, crossword puzzles and watching her favorite television shows.

Mrs. Cummings is survived by her two daughters Marcia Scaramelli and husband Alfred of Bedford and Sandra Cummings of Lee; her three grandchildren Nicole Araujo and husband Ryan, Jennifer Scaramelli, and Laura Jorge and husband Chris; great-grandchildren Jake, Nick, Leo and Emma Grace; and her grand-dog, Jeter.

Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother William “Big Bill” Fallon.

Calling hours for Mrs. Marjorie T. Cummings of Lee, who died June 20, 2017, will be Monday, June 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 27, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lenox. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either St. Mary’s Church or St. Ann’s Church both in care of Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.

A Funeral Mass for Robert William Lis will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Housatonic. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic.
