Margaret Nora Hawley, 79, of Lenox

A memorial service will be held on Feb. 15, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Roche Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held at a later date in Otis Town Cemetery.

Margaret Nora Hawley, 79, of Lenox, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born at home on May 26, 1945, in Sandisfield, to the late Marvin and Bessie Brooks Rowley. She attended Lee High School and graduated 1962.

Margaret owned and operated Miss Margaret’s Beauty Salon & Clothing Boutique and Alpine Reality, and for some years she was a co-owner of West Otis Construction. She also worked different jobs in the health field throughout her lifetime.

Margaret had a thirst for knowledge, attending Cosmetology school, Berkshire Community College for nursing, and The Elms College to study Psychology and Ministry.

Margaret was a member of the Otis Congregational Church. She enjoyed relaxing in her recliner in front of the fireplace with a trashy romance novel and playing Mahjong and card games at the community center with friends and family. She loved to travel around the U.S., British Isles, and Europe.

Margaret was a dedicated mother, hands on grandmother, and doting great-grandmother.

Margaret is survived by her children, JR Haggarty and family of Oklahoma City, Bruce Haggarty and family of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Linda M.H. Nolau and family of Summerville, S.C.; her grandchildren, Shawn Haggarty, Maya Copland, Ryen Nolau, and Savanna Nolau; her great-grandchildren, Boston Copland and Jasper Nolau; and her siblings, Evelyn Seelig and family of Dudley, Mass., and Eugene Rowley and family of Lenox. Besides her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her brother Robert Rowley.

A memorial service will be held on February 15, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held at a later date in Otis Town Cemetery.
