M. Doris McCauley, 92, of Marble Street, formerly of Crossway Street, died Saturday evening at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington with family by her side.
Born February 21, 1925, in Mechanicville, New York, Doris was the daughter of Raymond and Anna Bendon Conroy. As a young child, she and her family moved to Pittsfield. She was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the Berkshire Business College. She worked as a secretary and later at the Pittsfield Cooperative Bank.
Doris married Clifford J. McCauley Sr. on June 21, 1947, and moved to Lee. Her husband died in March 1985. Mrs. McCauley worked as a waitress at local restaurants and was last employed by Lee High School where she worked in the cafeteria. In addition, Mrs. McCauley was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Lee.
Mrs. McCauley leaves behind her son Michael McCauley and his wife, Suzan, of Tyringham; her daughter Marie Hebert of Lenox; six grandchildren: Stephen, Amy, Nicole, Christopher, Emily and Joseph; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Mrs. McCauley was predeceased by her son Clifford J. McCauley Jr.; her daughter Diane McCauley Tower; her brother, Bernard Conroy, and her sister, Rita Gleason.
Funeral services for M. Doris McCauley will be held on Wednesday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial with the Rev. Brian McGrath, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
