Lucy Santolin, 85, of Lee

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Lee, loved playing cards with her friends and, most of all was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lucy Rose Santolin, 85, died Saturday evening at her home, surrounded by her three daughters.

She was born June 23, 1933, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Donato and Giuseppina Cerulli Maffuccio. She attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1951 graduate of Pittsfield High School. On October 9, 1954, she married Mario “Juggy” Santolin. He died Nov. 13, 2002. Lucy worked for Frank Consolati Insurance Company from the late 1970s until 2001. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Lee, loved playing cards with her friends and, most of all was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Santolin is survived by three daughters: Linda Way and husband Earl of Wilbraham, Karen Keenan and husband Michael of Lee, and Donna Colbert and fiancé Jim of Lee; two brothers: Carmen Maffuccio and wife Marilyn of Pittsfield, and Larry Maffuccio of Lee; one sister: Virginia Maffuccio of Pittsfield; five grandchildren: Joseph Altiere and wife Kristen of Simsbury, Connecticut, Barrett Way of Boston, Alissa Way of Springfield, Evan Colbert of Lee, and Allie Colbert of Lee; one great-grandson: Keenan Altiere of Simsbury; and two sisters-in-law: Lucy Boldyga and Joan Potter, both of Lee. In addition, Mrs. Santolin leaves behind several nieces and nephews and her dear friend Mary Martino of Lee. She is predeceased by two brothers: Frank and Ralph Maffuccio; and one sister, Mary Palma.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA  01238. Lucy’s family would like to thank her wonderful care givers from HospiceCare and Mountain View Home Care.
