To the editor:
My name is Jared Weber, and I am running for a seat on the Lenox Select Board to help make town government more accessible, inclusive, and forward-looking.
Last year, I ran for Select Board and received 673 votes—just 14 shy of a tie. Since then, I have been working hard to stay engaged with our town government. I currently serve on the Lenox Community Center Board and act as that board’s liaison to the Community Preservation Committee. Last year, I applied to serve on the Town Manager Screening Committee and to fill a midterm vacancy on the School Committee.
I believe Lenox thrives when experienced leadership is complemented by fresh perspectives. If elected, I will prioritize expanding civic engagement by recruiting and supporting the next generation of volunteers for our boards and committees. I will also hold regular public office hours and forums to keep the broader community informed and involved.
Economic development will be a major focus. I am committed to expanding growth beyond the Route 7 and 20 corridor, particularly by exploring opportunities within Lenox Dale’s industrial zone. I support small-scale, adaptive reuse projects that breathe new life into historic infrastructure while expanding Lenox’s housing stock. I envision vibrant, interconnected village centers in both Lenox and Lenox Dale—with a thoughtful mix of retail, residential, green spaces, and recreational opportunities.
Strengthening communication between our town’s boards and committees is another priority. I will foster collaboration, actively attend committee meetings, and maintain a strong, productive partnership with the town manager. I will also bring my professional experience as a headhunter to help support critical municipal hiring efforts.
Each year, Lenox voters have the opportunity to shape town leadership. This Monday, May 5, I respectfully ask for your vote. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected Lenox—and I would be honored to do that work with you.
Jared Weber
