To the Editor:
Congratulations to all of us Stockbridge citizens.
We did the right and proper thing, honoring Chucky Cardillo with his second hard-earned win. We told the entrenched establishment that we want open government which settles disagreement without costly litigation. We want proper financial management that does not use our rainy day fund to cover poor fiscal mismanagement. We want a reactive — not passive — administration that caters to the needs of its citizens.
No gentleman who did not run last May would have stepped in now. Will he run next May or was this a shot in the dark?
No gentleman who, as Town Moderator, cut off debate, wrongly as later admitted by him, with regard to the budget as a whole and also the extravagant police budget as well.
No gentleman would have appointed the husband of the Lady Selectman, who pushed for the new style of policing, to vet the police budget as a member of the finance committee.
Chucky now sits in his seat to watch out for us, no longer under threat to lose his livelihood.
We hope that the Board has learned humility and respect for its fellow citizens but if not, remember please: It is one up and two to go.
