Lea Zavattaro, 102, of Lee

Mrs. Zavattaro enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends and family over a cup of coffee.

Lea T. Zavattaro, 102, of Lee, died Thursday afternoon at the Laurel Lake Center with her family at her side.

She was born August 14, 1915, in Marble, Colorado, the daughter of Marco and Diana Piccini Buffoni. Lea married Albert Zavattaro April 6, 1939. He died Nov. 13, 1997. Mrs. Zavattaro cherished working for Bernie and Ann Collins and Bill and Eleanor Collins assisting with running their households and caring for their children for many years. Mrs. Zavattaro enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends and family over a cup of coffee.

Mrs. Zavattaro leaves behind her daughter: Tina M. Nelson and husband Jim, of Hillsdale, New York; two grandchildren: Randy Nelson of Hillsdale, New York, and Laura McIntyre and husband Sean of San Francisco, California; and her two great-children: Clodagh and Coral McIntyre. In addition, she leaves behind her brother Lawrence Buffoni and wife Marie of Lee; and her two sisters: Vera Giarolo and Gloria Griffin, both of Lee. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, John, as well as her five brothers Harry, Raymond, Everett, Joseph and Mario Buffoni.

Funeral services for Lea T. Zavattaro will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in memory of Mrs. Zavattaro to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
