Lawrence Stanley Magdalenski, of New Kent, Va., died unexpectedly on November 12, 2025, at VCU Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on October 18, 1944, he was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Virginia Magdalenski.

Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Haurand Magdalenski, and his sisters, Sandra Pozzetta of Gainesville, Fla., and Margaret Tringali of Housatonic. He is also survived by his Virginia family—brother-in-law Bobby Haurand (Eileen), sister-in-law Jackie Blake (Harry), and brother-in-law Michael Haurand (Laurie)—as well as his Florida family: niece Adrienne Pozzetta (Kris); nephew James Pozzetta (Erin); and his great-nephews, Maximillian and Malcolm Pozzetta.
After graduating from Searles High School in 1962 and Boston College in 1966, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he earned a Bronze Star in Vietnam as a First Lieutenant in their PSYOPS Group. For almost 30 years, he worked for Honeywell-BULL in their manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts. He retired to Virginia in 2006 to pursue his lifelong passion of hunting. His interests were varied: cooking, foraging, his pets, art projects, reading, writing letters, visiting with friends, and watching sports.
Per Larry’s direction, his ashes will be interred this spring beside his family in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic. Online condolences may be left on Nelsen Funeral Home’s website. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
