Lawrence “Butch” Irwin Ray III, 71, of Southfield died Wednesday September 14, 2022 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Butch was born in Milford, Mass. on September 22, 1950 son of Lawrence Irwin Jr. and Theresa (Shurick) Ray. He graduated from Blackstone High School and went on to receive his Associates Degree from Coyne Electrical School in Newton, Mass.

Butch worked for over 40 years and owned his own company, Butch Ray Electrician, and was the wiring inspector in Alford and the assistant wiring inspector for Sheffield and New Marlborough. Butch was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed going to watch the Yankees in Spring Training. He was also a fan of UConn women’s basketball and Providence men’s basketball and enjoyed his dog Casey. Butch is survived by his wife, Ann (Goulet) Ray of Southfield whom he married on October 7, 1973; one brother, Thomas Ray and his wife Susan (Henault) Ray of Blackstone; and two nieces, Kimberly Larson and Tracy LaBonte.
A Memorial Mass for Lawrence “Butch” Irwin Ray III will be held on Saturday September 24 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield.
