Katherine S. Winn, 88, of 24 Silver St., Great Barrington, died Friday January 20, 2017 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. A lifelong resident of Great Barrington, she was born October 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Seivel Smith. Katherine graduated from Searles High School in 1946. After being a homemaker, she later worked for Becton Dickenson in Canaan, Conn., as a machine operator, retiring in 1992. Katherine leaves her son Timothy Winn of Lee, Mass., and two daughters Paula Drozdal of Northampton, Mass., and Susan Stutzman and her husband Jeffery of Wilton, N.H., along with two granddaughters, Hannah and Leah Stutzman of Wilton. She also leaves a son Matthew Winn of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by brothers Edward, Joseph, Raymond and Bernard Smith and two sisters Helen Yoho and Josephine Smith. Katherine loved books, nature and the Boston Red Sox, especially David Ortiz.
Funeral services for Katherine S. Winn who died on January 20 will be held on Monday January 23, at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Church, Great Barrington, with the Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 23 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA. 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Katherine’s memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
