Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was also an alumni of the Pittsfield Girls Club, participating in various leadership activities at the club, as well as Camp Witawentin. She was a counselor at Green Mountain Camp in Vermont. She worked at Editions Limited for 10 years. She worked for several years as the office manager of Dan Schnopp Construction, their family business.

She leaves her husband, Daniel R. Schnopp, of 55 years. She also leaves two daughters, Colleen O’Brien Denno and her husband John of Windsor, Mass. and Theresa Girona and her husband Tomas of Tyringham, as well as four grandchildren, Lucas O’Brien, Mac O’Brien, Mercedes Girona, and Tobias Girona. She leaves one brother, Thomas Borden and his wife Kathleen of Peru, Mass.; one sister, Barbara Jackson and her husband Raymond of Dalton; and her cousin, Carol McCulloch of Florida (who was like a sister to Joyce). She is predeceased by her sister, Christine Borden Salvatore. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Joyce loved her many dogs and cats throughout the years. Her passions included photographing nature, cooking, baking, her iPad, and watching her favorite shows and sports. Her favorite sports teams were the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and she loved watching NASCAR.

Joyce spent the last few years of her life at Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox. Our family wants to thank their amazing staff for the tireless love and care they provided for her. They filled her days with joy. They cared for her in the most beautiful way. She, too, was full of love, smiles, and gratitude for them.

The family will be having a mass in Joyce’s memory at St. Agnes Church in Dalton on Saturday, September 9 at 2 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow at the Dalton VFW, 366 E. Housatonic Street. If you would like to make a donation in Joyce’s memory, please support your local animal shelter.
