Joseph Anthony Simonetta, 50, of Housatonic Street, died Monday of natural causes at his home.
Born in Pittsfield Jan. 5, 1967, the son of Christine Meloveck Carmel and Joseph Simonetta, he was a 1985 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton and earned his associate degree from Berkshire Community College after completing the culinary arts program. Mr. Simonetta was employed at Kimball Farms retirement community as an evening chef for several years. He attended services at the Church on the Hill and was a volunteer at the church suppers. He also volunteered at the Guthrie Center in Housatonic.
He and his wife, Lisa Krasnowski Simonetta, were married May 17, 1997.
Besides his wife of Lenox and his mother and husband Robert J. Carmel of Dalton, he is survived by his father of Pittsfield; three sisters: Lysa M. Simonetta of Canoga Park, California, Hope L. Wendling of Dalton and Amanda L. Carmel of Pittsfield; stepdaughter Melissa Hopkins, her husband, Michael, and their son, Jacob, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; his aunt and godmother JoAnn Ferin and her husband, Bruce, of Dalton; aunt Patricia A. Williamson of Pueblo, Colorado; sister-in-law Ruth Stoeger of Woodside, New York; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
