John L. Piontek, 70, formerly of New Marlborough

John grew up in New Marlborough, Mass., and graduated from Mt. Everett Regional High School. He served in the Navy from 1962-1966.

John L. Piontek, 70, of Aliso Viejo, Calif., died Monday September 21, 2015. John was born in Great Barrington on September 22, 1944, son of John and Belle (Emprimo) Piontek. He grew up in New Marlborough, Mass., and graduated from Mt. Everett Regional High School. John served in the Navy from 1962-1966 on the ship G-YATT DD-712. He moved to California in 1970.

John was an autobody technician restoring and repairing cars for most of his working years. He enjoyed NASCAR, Las Vegas casinos and horse racing.

John is survived by his mother, Belle Piontek, god child Anna (Amy) Piontek, sister-in-law Carol Piontek. John is predeceased by his father, John Piontek, his brother George Piontek, his aunts, Roseina Emprimo and Ethel Sterling and lifetime companion of 32 years, Anita Trieber. John was an easy going caring individual, constant caregiver to Anita for many years. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A graveside service for John L. Piontek who died September 21 will be held on October 10, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Sheffield Center Cemetery with Father William P. Murphy, pastor, officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in John’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s Church or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington MA 01230.
