John H. Pirzl, 67, of Dalton, died peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born in Pittsfield on August 2, 1957, to the late Herbert and Rosemary Pirzl. He attended Lenox High School and was a 1975 graduate. After high school, he attended Berkshire Community College.

John previously worked for McDonald’s in high school. He also worked at a pool hall where he ran multiple tournaments for the business. He also worked as a driver for Pittsfield Rye Bakery, as a vendor for Wachusett Chips for local Price Choppers and Stop and Shop supermarkets, as well as working night crew for Price Chopper. He coached many sports teams for his daughter and helped with donations for local sports tournaments.
John enjoyed fishing and watching football, softball, and baseball; he was a diehard Jets fan his whole life. He enjoyed watching horse racing, playing cards and pool, and swimming. He enjoyed time with his children, Kelly and John, and later enjoyed laughs and smiles with his grandchildren, Chelsea, Bryan, and Brittney Kendig. He also enjoyed puzzles and painting in his later life. He had a love for animals and had a total of seven cats and two dogs throughout his life. He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Elks Club, where he followed in his father’s footsteps.
Mr. Pirzl is survived by his children, Kelly Pirzl-Kendig of Pittsfield and John H. Pirzl of Dalton; his grandchildren, Chelsea, Bryan, and Brittany Kendig; his siblings, Herbert and Colleen Pirzl of Lanesborough and Anne and Dan Connors of Pittsfield; and his nieces and nephews, Nakiesha, Jay, Shannah, Casey, Erin, and Daniel.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Ann Church with Monsignor John Bonzagni officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours with be held on Monday evening, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
