John A. Ferron, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Thursday, December 3, 2015. John was born on September 29, 1942 in Great Barrington to the late Armand L. Ferron and Josephine (Modolo) Ferron.
John was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1960. From 1964 to 1968 John served with the U.S. Air Force, spending two years in Vietnam. Upon returning home John had a career with the Post Office and then went to work at Fairview Commons before retiring to a life of pursuing his love of cooking and listening to his beloved music.
He was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus Council #513 and the James A. Modolo Post #8348 which was named for his uncle, a member of former Berkshire Mountain Railroad Club, and a volunteer for Berkshire Scenic Railroad as a brakeman. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catherine J. Ferron and two brothers, Armand L. Ferron of Great Barrington and James Ferron of Dalton, Mass.
Funeral services for John A. Ferron who died December 3, will be held on Monday, December 7, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Peter’s Church with the Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, from 3-5 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St., Great Barrington Mass.
