John M. Campetti, 70, a lifelong resident of Sandisfield, passed away Oct. 15, 2018, at his home.
Born Oct. 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Maurice and Joyce Allan Campetti. He grew up and learned his strong work ethic on the family farm. He graduated from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington and later attended the Benjamin Franklin Institute in Boston, earning a degree in engineering. John was a respected land surveyor for 50 years at the same company, becoming a partner at Foresight Land Services. John was an avid motorcyclist. He raced dirt bikes into his 60s, and continued riding on the road with friends and family. He loved live music, especially anything he could dance to.
He is survived by his daughter Jill Campetti of Northampton; his son John Campetti of Bloomfield, Connecticut; his son Christopher Campetti and wife Randi of West Boylston; his stepson Geoffrey Paletsky of Morris, Connecticut; and his granddaughter Willow Campetti. He also leaves his sister Joy Greenleaf and husband Thomas of Pittsfield; his sister Candace Craig and husband George of Torrington, Connecticut; his sister Dawn Pachulsky and husband Eric of Sandisfield; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services for John M. Campetti will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, beginning with calling hours from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., immediately following calling hours. Burial will follow at the Sandisfield Center Cemetery.
