Jennie F. Pruhenski, 93, of Great Barrington died Wednesday March 2, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was born on October 11, 1922 in Lenox daughter of Adam and Lena (Terebus) Pruhenski.

She was educated in local schools and worked for the New England Telephone Company as an operator for 32 years. She worked for many years in the Great Barrington office until its closing and then transferred to the Pittsfield office. She was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed spending time on her front porch surrounded by her devoted family.
Jennie is survived by her sister, Veronica Ann Deome of Great Barrington; five nieces: Caron Hobin and her husband Jack, Margaret “Peggy” Cass, Patricia Garrity, Ann O’Brien and Theresa “Terry” Andersen; five nephews: John Patrick Lynch and wife Sheilah, Harold O’Brien, Richard O’Brien, Donald O’Brien and Richard Pruhenski Jr.; two godsons, Sean Patrick Hobin and Edward Pruhenski and sister-in-law Ann Pruhenski.
Jennie was predeceased by two sisters, Sophie Lynch and Mary O’Brien, four brothers, Adam Pruhenski, Joseph Pruhenski, Anthony Pruhenski and Richard Pruhenski, niece, Frances “Frannie” Pruhenski and godson, George “Buddy” O’Brien.
Funeral services for Jennie F. Pruhenski will be held on Monday, March 7, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saint Peter’s Church with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
