Jeannie Lowe, 77, formerly of New Marlborough

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 25 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, with burial to follow in Sheffield, and a gathering of friends and family to follow at Fiddleheads Grille in Great Barrington.

Jeannie Lowe of Malta, N.Y. and formerly of Knight Road in New Marlborough, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at her home with family by her side. Jeannie was born on July 23, 1946, in Hanover, Germany, to Bronislawa and Roman Bialkowski and immigrated with her parents to the United States, settling and growing up in Great Barrington. She was a 1964 graduate of Searles High School.

Jeannie eventually moved to New Marlborough and raised her three children, predominantly on her own, instilling the strong values, independence, and great humor she had in each of them.

Jeannie worked for Mead Specialty Papers and was a long tenured administrator at Kolburne School. She loved to travel, play Bingo, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and her dear friends Carol Bojarczuk and Barbara Dewey, along with her dog Boo.

Jeannie was predeceased by her parents and grandson Brian Tyler. Jeannie leaves behind her son Rick MacDowell and his wife Kathy of Sheffield; her son Dan Lowe and his wife Michelle also of Sheffield; and her daughter Jennifer Tompkins and her husband Chris of Salisbury, Conn. She also leaves her grandchildren: Elissa Ciaburri and husband Joe; Keith Tyler and girlfriend Ashley; Matthew Lowe; and Kaelyn, Dana, and Ryan Tompkins. Additionally, she leaves her great-granddaughter Madelyn Ciaburri.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 25 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, with burial to follow in Sheffield, and a gathering of friends and family to follow at Fiddleheads Grille in Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to your local hospice organization.

There will be a gathering to celebrate the life of Maureen Johnson Hickey (1938-2025) at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge on Saturday, June 28th from 1:00-3:00pm.

Howard Trombley, 77, formerly of Great Barrington

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 251 Main St., Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.

Janet C. Hutchinson, 80, of South Egremont

A celebration of Jan’s life will take place Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of South Berkshire. All are welcome to join in celebrating Jan’s life, followed by a reception.
