Jean Nalty Larkin died peacefully Monday, December 2, 2024, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. She was born in Great Barrington on January 29, 1943, to Donald A. Nalty and Hazel Stewart Nalty Powell. She was a 1960 graduate of Searles High School.
Jean owned and operated Hazel’s Beauty Shop, which she took over after her mother’s passing and continued to run until 2012.
Jean loved all animals, and she found great joy visiting with her nieces and nephew, always taking their side when they were mischievous.
Jean is survived by her husband of 36 years, Barry Larkin, whom she married at St. Peter’s Church in Great Barrington; her sisters, Della Nalty Johnson and Donna Nalty Kirchner and her husband Al; her stepsisters, Rosie O’Brien, Tina Tarnawa, Carol Hammer, and Betty Budz; and her stepbrother Butch Powell. She is predeceased by her beloved son Richard “Dickie” Bellinger.
A service celebrating Jean Larkin will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairview Hospital’s Annual Fund in care of Birches Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
