Janet M. Jongste, 91, of Lee

She enjoyed knitting and made hats for premature babies at Fairview Hospital and Prayer Shawls at Trinity Church.

Janet M. Jongste, 91, of Lee died Friday March 17, 2017 at Laurel Lake in Lee. She was born in Lenox on March 19, 1925 daughter of Mary Earl.

Janet was a graduate of Lenox High School class of 1943. Janet worked for 25 years at the Morgan House in Lee as a waitress. Her husband of 33 years, Jan Hendrik Jongste whom she married on December 16, 1966 in Delft Holland predeceased her on June 15, 2000.

Janet was a member of the Church of the Good Shepard in South Lee. She enjoyed knitting and made hats for premature babies at Fairview Hospital and Prayer Shawls at Trinity Church. She was involved in the Head Start Program in Pittsfield and was a ceramics instructor.

Janet is survived by one son, Richard Earl and his wife Sherry of Texas, one brother, Albert Beaujean of Swansbora, N.C., two granddaughters, Nadean Earl and Tina Earl, one great granddaughter Meghan Earl, three great grandsons Michael Earl, Joshua Curtin and Eric Earl and two great great grandsons, Dominic Curtin and Michael Earl Jr.

In addition to her husband Jan H. Jongste, Janet was predeceased by brother Kenneth Beaujean and sister Anita Sharandt.

A private graveside service for Janet M. Jongste will be held on in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee at a later time. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

Thomas F. ‘Walt’ Palivoda, 72, of Housatonic

Walt’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Ed Shaw at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Wyantenuck Country Club. Private burial will be at a later date.
