Jane Finn, 86, of Great Barrington, retired physical education teacher

Jane received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Boston University. Jane worked as a Physical Education teacher for Mount Everett Regional High School, the former Williams High School, Monument Mountain Regional High School and as Athletic Director at the former Searles Middle School until retiring in 1980.

Jane Finn 86, of Great Barrington died Monday May 25, 2015 at Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehab in Great Barrington. She was born in Boston on September 22, 1928, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hurley) Casey.

Jane received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Boston University. Jane worked as a Physical Education teacher for Mount Everett Regional High School, the former Williams High School, Monument Mountain Regional High School and as Athletic Director at the former Searles Middle School until retiring in 1980. Jane was an avid golfer and an Honorary Lifetime Member of Wyantenuck Country Club and the first female officer at the club. Jane’s husband T. Bennett Finn predeceased her.

Jane is survived by one son, Thomas B. Finn Jr. of Pembroke, Mass., two daughters, Susan M. Finn Faivre of Great Barrington and Elizabeth J. Finn of Plantation, Fla.; two sisters, Brenda Casey Murphy of Staten Island, N.Y., and Suzanne Casey Hamlet of Metuchen, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Casey Finn-McGowin of Southampton, N.Y., and Colleen Mary Finn of Denver, Colo. In addition to her husband, T. Bennett Finn, Jane was predeceased by son Joseph Casey Finn and sister, Mary Casey Murphy.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

Thomas F. ‘Walt’ Palivoda, 72, of Housatonic

Walt’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service officiated by Deacon Ed Shaw at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Wyantenuck Country Club. Private burial will be at a later date.

Nancy Elma Demarest Dellert, 89, formerly of Ashley Falls

As requested, a private burial service for close family will be held at Ashley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
