James P. Silk, 55, of Sheffield

Jim was born in Springfield, Mass., on December 28, 1959 to the late Betty and Bill Silk. He was a graduate of Mount Everett Regional High School. His greatest joy was his children Lauren and Patrick. He was an avid sports fan.

James P. Silk, 55, owner and longtime operator of Silk’s Variety in Sheffield died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 9, 2015.

Jim was born in Springfield, Mass., on December 28, 1959 to the late Betty and Bill Silk. He was a graduate of Mount Everett Regional High School.

His greatest joy was his children Lauren and Patrick. He was an avid sports fan.

Jim is survived by his children, Lauren and Patrick, along with their mother, Susan. He also leaves his sister Regina Silk of Winsted, Conn., his brothers Steven Silk of Sheffield, Thomas Silk and wife Sandra, also of Sheffield, as well as his nephews and nieces, Joshua Silk, Matthew Silk, Amanda Silk and her fiancé SSG Thomas Garbarini, Lillian Silk and Daniel Silk.

A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Jill Graham. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Cemetery in Sheffield.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
