James A. Ostrander, 63, of Great Barrington

Jim was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School class of 1973.

James A. Ostrander, 63, of Great Barrington died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at his home. He was born on May 29, 1954 in Pittsfield son of Arthur M. and Lena (Dalmaso) Ostrander.

Jim was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School class of 1973. While at Monument Jim was a 4-year member of the football team. Jim worked for 37 years at the former Rising Paper Mill and the Fox River Paper as a Color Tech and in the Finishing Department and Embosser and at the Eisner Camp for seven years in maintenance. Jim also had a furniture repair license.

Jim was a communicant of Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington where he was a collector and usher at the 4 p.m. Masses. He was a member of the Bishop Conalty 4th Degree, Mt. Everett Council #513 3rd Degree and was the Recorder and a former member of Great Barrington Fish and Game. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fishing and bow hunting.

Jim is survived by his mother, Lena (Dalmaso) Ostrander of Great Barrington; six brothers, John of Great Barrington; his twin Bill and his wife Sonya of Wichita, Kansas; Art and his wife Holley of Torrington, Conn.; Bruce of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Mark and his wife Darlene of Housatonic; and David and his wife Sharon of Garland, Texas. Jim was predeceased by two sisters, Diana Rose and Mary Beth Ostrander.

Funeral services for James A. Ostrander will be held on Friday April 20, 2018 at Saint Peter’s at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial, with the Reverend William S. Murphy, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in West Stockbridge.

Family will receive friends at calling hours on Thursday April 19, from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in James’ memory may be made to St. Peter’s Building Fund in care of the funeral home at 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA. 01230.
