Indiana resident arraigned for alleged rape at Eisner Camp in Great Barrington

The assault allegedly took place on June 16, 2022.

Pittsfield and Great Barrington — On Tuesday, March 18, James Earehart, 55, of Clinton, Ind., was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court on two counts of rape.

According to Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office Chief of Operations Julia Sabourin, Earehart was employed by Membrane Concepts of New Bedford and was on the grounds of the camp to work on its pool at the time of the alleged rape.

The rape allegedly took place on June 16, 2022.

“The victim, who was an employee of the camp at the time of the assault, stated they (singular to protect the victim’s identity) were returning to a building at the camp when they were approached by Earhart,” Sabourin wrote in an email. “Shortly after being approached, the victim stated they were sexually assaulted. The alleged assault took place in the evening hours.”

The Berkshire State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office executed an extradition order from Indiana to return the Defendant to Massachusetts to face the two rape charges.

Earhart is being held on $50,000 cash bail without prejudice. He is scheduled to appear on March 31 in Berkshire Superior Court for an appearance of counsel.
