In praise of Polly Pierce

In his letter to the editor Stewart Eedelstein writes: “For three decades, Polly's extensive knowledge of the town and its people was a valuable resource for authors, historians, and inquisitive citizens.”

To the Editor:

The members of the Board of Trustees of the Stockbridge Library Association honor Pauline “Polly” Pierce, who died last week at the age of 99. Polly began her 30-year career as curator of the Stockbridge Library Historical Room (now the Museum & Archives) beginning in 1968. For three decades, Polly’s extensive knowledge of the town and its people was a valuable resource for authors, historians, and inquisitive citizens. She lived long enough to attend the festivities when we opened the recently renovated Library, Museum & Archives, touring the building in a wheelchair, a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. We all owe her a tremendous debt of gratitude.

A response to Denny Alsop’s Letter to the Editor

Sadly, this is just the latest example of the lies and distortions that the small group of opponents of a well-planned project that will benefit every single taxpayer in Stockbridge will go to with their opposition.
