To the editor:
Great Barrington has, and will continue to have, great leadership. The candidates for Finance Committee and the Selectboard who presented at the candidates’ forum Tuesday, April 28, convinced me that this trend will continue.
Particularly impressive were Walter “Bud” Atwood and Eugene “Will” Curletti for the Finance Committee, both showing a deep understanding of and appreciation for town government and the challenges of determining sensible budgets. Walter (“Bud”) Atwood has years of experience as a member of the Select Board and Finance Committee and gives me great confidence that he will serve us well.
Eugene “Will” Curletti is a young businessman who shows deep understanding of the budgetary issues and challenges. He has a sense of humor and is very appealing to a broad section of the community. He is raising a family here and understands the thorny issues of taxation. He will be creative in seeking equitable solutions to our problems.
Most impressive are Bill Cooke and Sean Stanton for the Select Board. Bill Cooke appeals because of his business experience, the time he can devote to the job, his knowledge of the challenges and his clear ability to communicate and solve problems.
Sean Stanton is a star. With six years experience on the Select Board, he has shown wisdom, a very appealing humility that makes him an effective colleague, and a toughness in making the decisions that are best for the town.
Please join me in voting for Sean, Bill, Walter and Eugene on May 12!
