I proudly support Leigh Davis and Maura Healey for reelection

My support is based on lived experience, professional values, and direct engagement—not slogans. That is why I support State Rep. Leigh Davis and Gov. Maura Healey for reelection.

To the editor:

As I wrote previously in The Berkshire Eagle, I attended one of State Rep. Leigh Davis’s coffee conversations in Otis and found it informative, accessible, and genuinely engaging. What stood out was her willingness to listen closely to constituents and to engage seriously with real-life concerns—including emergency medical services, housing, and healthcare access.

I am disabled and live with Crohn’s disease and colitis. I am also an Orthodox Jewish woman. These realities shape how I experience public policy every day. I depend on consistent access to medical care, a functioning public health system, and leaders who understand that dignity, safety, and inclusion are essential—not optional.

I am affiliated with Doctors for America and Physicians for a Healthy Democracy, and I evaluate leadership through the lens of patient safety, public trust, and democratic stability. From that perspective, Davis’ work—including her efforts to strengthen EMS statewide—reflects thoughtful, constituent-driven leadership.

At a time when antisemitism has been rising nationally and locally, both State Rep. Davis and Gov. Maura Healey have been clear and consistent in standing against hate and supporting Jewish communities. Gov. Healey’s leadership has made it clear that Massachusetts will not tolerate antisemitism or religious discrimination, and State Rep. Davis has demonstrated that same commitment here in the Berkshires.

My support is based on lived experience, professional values, and direct engagement—not slogans. That is why I support State Rep. Leigh Davis and Gov. Maura Healey for reelection.

In honor of President’s Day and the forming of our constitutional republic

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our constitutional republic, we would be wise to contemplate the freedoms we declare we are entitled to, such as the freedom of speech and the right to protest.

I see the future, and it is scary

This is not about politics. It is about saving our 250-year-old democracy. To do this, we need Republicans to step up and help.

Inspired by Leonard Quart’s story of ‘Coping with these times’

As I am buffeted by the firehouse of news of the wounds against humanity and our planet, I still try to find healing stories of truth, beauty, goodness, and justice.
