Rene Wood: I have withdrawn my candidacy for the SBRSD School Committee

While my name will remain on the ballot; I ask you to please not vote for me if you were considering doing so. Your vote is too valuable.

To the editor:

Returning my signed nominating papers to run as a candidate for a Southern Berkshire Regional School District (SBRSD) School Committee position as a Sheffield resident was exciting. I have seen firsthand the game-changing work being done at SBRSD, including in instruction, student-directed learning, use of the facilities, and possibly addressing workforce housing needs—all of which I want to help move forward.

However, life changes, and it is best to acknowledge those changes before possibly being elected to a position when I know I would not be able to live up to my standards and work ethic, nor those that people who know me have come to expect.

As a result, I have withdrawn as a candidate for a SBRSD School Committee position.

While my name will remain on the ballot; I ask you to please not vote for me if you were considering doing so. Your vote is too valuable. Instead, choose from amongst the other qualified candidates from Sheffield and make the School Committee as strong as possible.
