To the editor:
Although I lack the resources or name recognition needed for someone to run for a high political office, I am told I am a pretty good talker, and I have a message that I believe will resonate with voters. I will not be like other politicians who make promises they fail to keep and tell lies more than truths—cue president Trump.
Trump says things that can be checked out with AI on Trump’s Truth Social, where they are shown to be lies. And with few exceptions, none of the promises he said he would carry out on his first day in office have reached fruition. So I am going to make similar first-day promises, but they will be about legislation.
Donald Trump has become one of the most hated people in American history. (Perhaps you did not notice that roughly half of voters on November 4 admitted they voted to repudiate Trump as much as to support a Democrat.) I thought about who else fits this characterization, and two people came to mind: Benedict Arnold and John Wilkes Booth. Why Trump, you ask?
Trump violates the Constitution and the rule of law on a daily basis. He uses the most powerful office in the world to enrich himself. Anyone who does not pledge loyalty to him is fired. He has a cabinet filled with inexperienced people he treats as his employees, not ours, as they do his bidding. He uses the pardon power to free convicted criminals for no reason other than they support him or provide financial benefits to him. He defunds medical research, gives tax breaks to the wealthy while robbing those who need government support to feed their families, and he endlessly tries to take away health insurance and Medicaid for more than 40 million people.
My proposed legislation would roll back Trump’s tariffs with companies and foreign governments being reimbursed. Those things that have his name on them will be erased. The White House ballroom will be demolished, with the East Wing and Rose Garden restored to their original condition. The same goes for the nouveau riche look of the White House, including the Vegas-theme bathroom adjoining the Lincoln bedroom. I will propose increasing the number of seats on the Supreme Court to depoliticize the current makeup.
The Kennedy Performing Arts Center will remain the Kennedy Performing Arts Center without Trump’s name, which he has suggested should be added. Those appointed by Trump to run and oversee the Center will be replaced by those Trump removed. The Opera House will not be named for Melania Trump. Trump’s cabinet members will be forced to resign or face having a costly defense of their impeachment proceedings (Trump’s method of retribution).
All employees, including members of the military who resigned or were forced to do so for no valid reason, will be offered their former jobs with back pay. Colleges, universities, law firms, and any other entity that had money extorted from them will have it returned. DEI will be accepted, and a path to citizenship will be negotiated to allow hardworking, honest people who have been here for years, paid taxes, and have not violated laws to remain without living in fear.
I will ask to have an alarm at any location where a politician is speaking. An obvious lie (there have been many) will sound a loud alert that what is being said is not true. Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, among others, may be forced to never speak in public.
How will all of this be paid for? It is estimated we have approximately 10,000 individuals among us who have a net worth of more than $100 million, and more than 1,000 with a net worth of more than $1 billion. Those people either inherited their wealth or owe their bounty to this country. It is time to give back some of Trump-sponsored, ill-gotten tax breaks they did not ask for, do not deserve, and do not need.
I propose a $10 million contribution from billionaires and $5 million from those worth more than $100 million. (As for Elon Musk, a $100 million payment to make up for his efforts as the head of DOGE.) I assume that is a fraction of the money they received from Trump’s tax breaks, and their retained wealth will not alter their way of life. If those sums will not cover the above, I will add corporations to that list.
I ask you, should I run for a seat in the House or the Senate, and whichever I choose, can I count on your support? Please consider donating at frankpullingyourleg.com.
