Berkshire Theatre Group to present The Weight
Pittsfield — Berkshire Theatre Group will present The Weight, featuring former members of the Band, Levon Helm Band and Rick Danko Group, on Thursday, December 3 at 8 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre.
Due to their unparalleled airplay in the in the 1970s, the Band’s music ultimately became an indelible thread woven into the fabric of the evolving American culture. Some of their mega radio hits include “The Weight,” “Ophelia,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” “Arcadian Driftwood,” “Makes No Difference,” “Rag Momma Rag,” “Chest Fever,” “King Harvest,” and “The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down.” The Band’s music continues to mark time in the lives of millions of baby boomers around the world and is now being rediscovered by today’s youth.

Handmade Holiday Festival
Pittsfield — Alchemy Initiative’s seventh annual Handmade Holiday Festival will take place at Berkshire Community College’s Paterson Field House on Saturday, December 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Handmade Holiday Festival, a weekend-long celebration of all things handmade, will showcase the best and brightest talents from the modern maker community. In addition to the talented vendors, there will be local artisanal food and drink, great music, and good vibes.
There will be an opportunity for shoppers to make their own craft with IS183 Art School of the Berkshires on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. IS183 will also be offering a 10 percent discount on their winter/spring class, workshop, or intensive when shoppers sign up at the Festival.
The event is free and open to the public.

Williams College to show ‘Dear Mandela’
Williamstown — Williams College will host a screening of the film “Dear Mandela” on Thursday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Paresky Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
“Dear Mandela” is a documentary by Dara Kell and Christopher Nizza that tells the story of Abahlali BaseMjondolo (Zulu for “people of the shacks”). It is considered the largest movement of the poor to emerge in post-apartheid South Africa. The film brings viewers into the lives of three of the movement’s leaders who challenge the eradication of the slums and evictions of shack dwellers, discover that the Slums Act legalized mass evictions, and take their case to the Constitutional Court.

Open call for iPhone photography exhibition
Lenox — An open call has been announced for submissions to iMotif, an iPhone photography exhibition presented by Sohn Fine Art Gallery. The exhibition will be showcased at Sohn Fine Art Gallery Friday, January 22 – Monday, February 29, 2016 and at the gallery at Pittsfield’s Hotel on North during the month of February in conjunction with Cultural Pittsfield’s 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival.
Different work will be shown at each location. Submission guidelines are available online. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, December 13.

‘Christmas at Trinity’
Lenox — The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present “Christmas at Trinity” on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. The performance at Trinity Episcopal Church will feature selections from the “Christmas Oratorio” by J.S. Bach, music for Christmas by Stockbridge composer David Anderegg, and traditional carols. The concert will include special guests: the Berkshire Children’s Chorus and their director Julie Bickford. Together with the Cantilena Chamber Choir, they will perform new carols by Paul Mealor and Paul Halley.
