Howard Hood, 91, of Otis

Mr. Hood owned and operated the Cold Spring Dairy Farm, eventually turning it into the Cold Spring Campground, which he operated for many years.

Mr. Howard P. Hood, 91, of Otis died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at the Lee Health Care Nursing Facility with his son by his side.

Howard was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Otis, the son of Lester and Emma Greiner Hood. He was raised in Otis and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Hood honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married the former Marie Hofling June 11, 1950. She died March 20, 2018.

Mr. Hood owned and operated the Cold Spring Dairy Farm, eventually turning it into the Cold Spring Campground, which he operated for many years. Mr. Hood also worked seasonally at the Otis Ridge Ski Area for many years. He was proud of building his home in which he and his wife raised their family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed travelling. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his two grandchildren. After his retirement, Mr. Hood was an active member of the Otis Council on Aging and enjoyed helping with the Brown Bag Program.

Mr. Hood leaves behind his four sons: Ronald of North Carolina, Jonathan of Florida, Joseph of Otis, and Paul of New Hampshire. He also leaves his two grandchildren: David and Crystal. In addition, Mr. Hood leaves behind his brother, Ernest Hood; and his sister, Marilyn Galeucia.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
