Hotel at Searles School will benefit town, education

In his letter to their editor, Bill and Carol Orient write: "People who are contributing time and money to the Save Searles campaign should instead be giving that money ... for renovating Monument Mountain High School."

To the Editor:

The Great Barrington Selectmen should do the right thing and give the Mahidas the special permit for the Searles hotel; otherwise, it will join the growing list of empty buildings and storefronts in Great Barrington. It will bring much needed tax revenue to the town.

People should not be concerned with traffic as this isn’t a retail outlet where you would have hundreds of cars in and out all day. When the Berkshire Co-op wanted to move to the New England Log Homes site, no seemed to be concerned about traffic.

The people who are contributing time and money to the Save Searles campaign should instead be giving that money to BHRSD to help pay for renovating Monument Mountain High School. I would be curious to know what percent of the people against the Searles Hotel grew up in Great Barrington and went to Searles High School.

On the road to accessible, affordable, and safe water in Great Barrington

A roadblock to taking on the civic responsibility to ensure safe water in Great Barrington has been fear, and confusion, about how this challenging task can be accomplished.

Thank you to the Berkshire community for returning Marcy to her family

We are forever thankful. This letter is not enough to thank everyone who cared. We shook hands with volunteers in the woods whose names we never got or remember. Thank you now; you are not forgotten.

David Edwards’ review of ‘A Complete Unknown’ breezed past a key figure

Edward's focus on the musicality is understandable and, granted, fundamental to a Dylan story, but his critique (if I understand the title of the article) is a "Film Review" not a "Musical Film Review."
