Holly Hamer would be fine addition to Planning Board

In her letter to the editor, Marcia Stamell writes: “Holly cares about our town, our neighborhoods and our community… She does her homework for each task that she takes on.”

To the Editor:

I would like to urge the residents of Great Barrington to vote for Holly Hamer for Planning Board. Holly has a track record as both a business woman and a public servant. Her combination of talents and experience that will make her a wonderful addition to the Board.

For more than 30 years, Holly co-owned Mill River Studio, a successful gallery and framing business on Railroad Street. She understands first-hand the factors that support healthy business growth in Great Barrington. She also knows how our town government works. She was elected to the Library Trustee Board, where she served for four years — including a two-year stint as chair. While there, and during the eight years and counting she’s worked as the treasurer of the Friends of the Great Barrington Library, she’s worked tirelessly to develop programs that revitalized the library as a community resource and brought people together. She also volunteered to the Town Charter Review Committee and currently serves on the advisory board of the Clinton Church restoration project.

Holly cares about our town, our neighborhoods and our community. She is smart. She has great integrity. She does her homework for each task that she takes on. She’s listens to others and considers differing points of view before making a judgment.

Elect Holly Hamer to Great Barrington’s Planning Board. She will be good for our town.

Terms like “detention center” are not neutral—they are bureaucratic euphemisms that soften harsh realities. Journalists routinely reject government-preferred language when accuracy demands it. This is such a moment.
