Henry A. ‘Bud’ Lawrence Jr., 86, of Great Barrington

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, with the 209 Military Police Company in the Far East.

Henry A. “Bud” Lawrence Jr. 86 of 2 Bernard Gibbons Drive, Great Barrington, died on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Lee, Mass., on July 18, 1929, the son of Henry A. Lawrence Sr. and Eleanor Lomas Lawrence. He was a graduate of Leicester High School, Leicester, Mass. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, with the 209 Military Police Company in the Far East.

He moved to Stockbridge in 1952 and then to Housatonic where he lived since 1964. He worked as a quality control inspector at Mead Corporation, South Lee, for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Bud was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church, Housatonic. He was a member of the James A. Modolo VFW Post 8348 and was a past senior vice commander in 1976.

He leaves his second wife, Amelia T. Biasin Koldys, whom he married on December 27, 1996; two sons, Henry A. “Hal” Lawrence III and his wife, Jean, of Belchertown, Mass., and David A. Lawrence of Pittsfield; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Rickards of Carrabelle, Fla., and Dana K. Del Grande of North Carolina; three grandchildren: Joseph Rickards, Nicholas Del Grande, and Julie Del Grande; and several nieces and nephews, among them Marlene Koloski, a loving, caring niece who assisted him. Bud was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa Koloski Lawrence, whom he married on December 29, 1951 and died August 24, 1992; one brother, Donald W. Lawrence; and two sisters, Harriet Vincent and Mary Jane Almstead.

Funeral services for Henry A.”Bud” Lawrence will be private in keeping with Bud’s wishes. Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, Mass., is in charge of his arrangements. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

There will be a gathering to celebrate the life of Maureen Johnson Hickey (1938-2025) at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge on Saturday, June 28th from 1:00-3:00pm.

Howard Trombley, 77, formerly of Great Barrington

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 251 Main St., Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.

Janet C. Hutchinson, 80, of South Egremont

A celebration of Jan’s life will take place Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of South Berkshire. All are welcome to join in celebrating Jan’s life, followed by a reception.
