Helen L. Hainsworth, 97, of Lenox

A graveside funeral service will be conducted in the West Stockbridge Village Cemetery in May, at a date to be announced. There will be no calling hours.

Helen L. Hainsworth, 97, of Lenox, died March 28, 2025, at Fairview Commons. Born March 24, 1928, in Flushing, N.Y., the daughter of Valentine and Nina Ketron Ziegler, she was a graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge and later earned her registered nursing degree from the Flushing School of Nursing.

Mrs. Hainsworth was employed as an RN throughout her career and had worked at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington for 11 years, retiring in 1994. Earlier in her career, she had also worked at the former Pittsfield General Hospital (BMC) and at the former Meadow Place in Lenox.

Mrs. Hainsworth’s husband Kenneth H. Hainsworth, whom she married November 25, 1950, died in 1987. Her brother Donald M. Ziegler died in 2002.

Mrs. Hainsworth was an active member of Eastern Star, Grange, and the Quality Time Club of Greylock Credit Union. She was a member of Trinity Church in Lenox and, while wintering in Florida for many years, attended Mims Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hainsworth is survived by her four children, Robert A. Hainsworth of Lenox, Shirley A. Hainsworth of Durham, N.C., Cynthia Carron (Michael) of Wilbraham, Mass., and Lucille N. Hainsworth (Bartel Turk) of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Bailly) and Amanda Carron and Joshua Turk; and her great-granddaughter Emmeline Carron. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted in the West Stockbridge Village Cemetery in May, at a date to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Lenox Library in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services and internment will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Great Barrington.
