Helen C. Hankey, 91, of Great Barrington died Friday, April 10, 2020, at Lee HealthCare surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born July 6, 1928, in Lanesborough, daughter of Benjamin and Dora (Race) Keefner. A true local, Helen was wed, raised her children and spent her life in Great Barrington. Helen’s husband, Jesse W. Hankey Sr., whom she married Sept. 22, 1946, predeceased her Aug. 22, 1993. Helen’s greatest joy was when she was with her family.
Helen is survived by sons Jesse W. Hankey Jr. and wife Eleanor of Great Barrington, and Lawrence W. Hankey and wife Linda of Great Barrington; one daughter: Juanita O’Rourke and husband Kevin of East Otis; brother Thomas Keefner and wife Pat of Great Barrington; her “little sister” Samia Betros; three grandchildren: Tom Hankey (Sheila) of Great Barrington, Mike Hankey (Brittany) of Lee, and Shana Deveaux (Alex) of Barnstable; and two great-grandchildren: T2 and Hailey Hankey. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by son Gary S. Hankey; brothers Joseph, David, Harold, Clifford, James and Donald Keefner; and sister Eleanor Hamling.
The family of Helen C. Hankey would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Lee HealthCare, Unit 1, for the compassionate care they provided for Helen.
